Steirodon dentiferoides   Emsley, 1970

 

Synonyms: Posidippum dentiferoides, Steirodon dentiferum (in part)

 

 

Steirodon dentiferoides is a large (78-84 mm) leaf katydid found in the lowland tropical forests of eastern Brazil from Pará to Rio Grande do Sul. Leaf green; the pronotal carinae is elevated dorsally and tuberculated; a purple spot on the inner face of each tubercle; dorsal surface of the metatibia is chocolate brown. Very similar to S. dentiferum from northern South America; the difference is mainly in the male stridulatory file and tegmen. Females are indistinguishable.
